editor

editor
A term of address used in countless letters addressed to ‘Dear Editor’ sent by readers of newspapers and magazines, but little used in speech. Fletch, by Gregory Macdonald, has a reporter saying: ‘It came out totally imbalanced, thanks to you, bitch editor.’ The woman concerned has made changes to the reporter’s story. She has earlier asked whether his attitude to her is governed by the fact that she is a woman. He says he likes women, but ‘what I do mind is your being made an editor - my editor - solely because you are going to bed with the editor-in-chief’.
